emerging adulthood

college + beyond

stepping into freedom bravely

Emerging adulthood is a season of transition—one that brings both possibility and pressure. Whether you’re pursuing higher education, entering the workforce, serving your community, creating, traveling, caregiving, or simply figuring out what comes next, this time can be both exciting and disorienting. You may feel pulled between independence and uncertainty, growth and grief, or expectations—your own or others’—that no longer fit.

I’ve dedicated my career to supporting people through this powerful stage of becoming. My work has spanned college counseling and young adult development from the East Coast to the West Coast, including therapy in university settings ranging from 3,000 to 50,000 students. Through these experiences, I’ve helped students navigate belonging, identity, and transition—but I’ve also worked closely with emerging adults forging meaningful lives outside higher education. Those who don’t pursue college often face unique challenges: finding purpose without a prescribed path, creating stability in shifting environments, and building community beyond traditional systems.

In my previous role as Secretary of the American College Counseling Association, I contributed to national conversations about college mental health and the evolving needs of young adults. That work deepened my understanding that there is no single roadmap to adulthood—just individual stories shaped by resilience, exploration, and self-definition.

Therapy during this time is more than managing change—it’s about intentionally shaping who you’re becoming. Together, we’ll explore your identity, clarify your values, and build confidence in your ability to make choices that align with the life you want. Whether you’re on a campus, in a career, or creating your own path entirely, this is a space to forge meaning, resilience, and direction as you step into adulthood with authenticity and strength.
